Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state has restated his administration’s commitment to establish Skills Acquisition Center in each Ward across the state.
This was made known by the state Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Daniel when he received the Director-General of Industrial Trust Fund (ITF), Sir Joseph Ari on a courtesy visit in his office.
He assured the DG of the state government resolve to partner Industrial Trust Fund to ensure a smooth establishment of the Industrial Skills Training Centres in the state, with a view to taking care of Industrial training for the people of North East region.
Daniel Said the Inuwa led government has the political will toward empowering women and youth, adding that the centres, when established will enable the youth learn trades of their choice as well as address the issue of joblessness and improve human capital.
According to him, the idea of establishing the industrial skill training centre in Gombe will go a long way in complementing state government commitment to address lack of employment through skills acquisition.
He explained that with the influx of people from other states as a result of insurgency, facilities in Gombe state are overstretched, therefore, massive interventions from whatever quarter is welcome to enable people in the state to improve their economic well being.
On the prosed site for the establishment of the Industrial Skill Training Centre, at old mile three, the Deputy Governor said the government will consider providing a much bigger land elsewhere to have enough space for operations
Earlier, the Director-General of the Industrial Trust Funds Sir Joseph Ntung Ari said Gombe state has not benefited from the interventions of ITF for two consecutive years due to lack of proactiveness of the past administration.
He appreciated the proactiveness of the Inuwa Yahaya led government for facilitating the resumption of the program in Gombe state where 500 people were trained in different trades and given starter kits to enable them to stand on their own
