Gombe state government says all is set to resuscitate the Moribund Monto Processing Company with a view to boosting the economy of the state.

State Deputy Governor Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, disclosed this when he led a team of consultants from Edginton Ltd company alongside the Emir of Akko, Alh. Umar Atiku to inspect the plant at Kumo, Akko LGA of the state.

He expressed optimism that if resuscitated, the company would provide a brighter prospect to more job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths.

According to him, it will also boost the Internally Generated Revenue of government and people of the state towards the overall socio-economic development of Gombe.

Dr Manassah Daniel, however, expressed dismay on why an economically viable project like Monto Processing Company could be allowed to waste, in spite of its potentiality of putting smiles on the faces of people, especially tomatoes farmers who have been suffering from poor marketing and lack of storage facilities.

The Deputy Governor, therefore, commended the factory Manager for being up to date about the company’s operations, decades after the moribundity of the company.

In a remark, Consultant, Mr Guido Firreti, explained that the company has numerous positive prospects that could help in minimising loss of tomatoes farmers resulting from its perishability, poor storage and markets.

Mr Firreti said, the company could be made fully functional but with little changes of some of the components that are obsolete to allow for the use of modern equipment.

The Emir of Akko Alhaji Umar Mohammad Atiku thanked Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya and his Deputy Manassah Daniel Jatau for their concern and foresight towards the advancement of Gombe State.

The Monarch described them as people with the right perspective for issues of development, calling on his subjects and the entire people of Gombe State to give the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya the needed support to move the state forward.
