Gov. Sule Abdullahi f Nasarawa State

Nasarawa State governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule has described youths as the vanguards of the socioeconomic development of the society.
Engineer Sule made the assertion while delivering a speech at the swearing in of the 2019 Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation course for corps members deployed to Nasarawa State, at the Magajin Gari Dan Yamusa Permanent NYSC camp in Keffi on Thursday.
He explained that having recognized that youths are the agents of change, his administration has put in place various policies, particularly skills acquisition programmes geared towards creating opportunities for the youths to engage themselves in meaningful ventures for the needed economic empowerment, wealth creation and poverty reduction.
The governor, represented at the event by his deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, acknowledged that the NYSC scheme has positively impacted on the lives of the people, as evident particularly in the development of rural areas where corps members go to educate children, as well as embark upon community development projects.
He congratulated the corps members on their successful completion of studies from various institutions of learning which qualified them for enlistment for this year’s national service.
The governor recounted that the NYSC scheme was established in 1973 to promote national integration and cohesion for nation building.
While pledging to continuously collaborate and support the effort of the NYSC scheme in realizing its objectives, Engineer Sule charged the corps members to be strictly guided by the oaths administered to them during the exercise and to imbibe the spirit of loyalty, patriotism, discipline and hard work.
Speaking earlier, state coordinator of the scheme, Mrs. Ramatu Sanda, disclosed that 1, 557 prospective corps members were registered at the camp, comprising of 814 males and 743 females.
The NYSC coordinator informed that so far, corps members deployed to the state have been well bahaved, organized and disciplined, with no single negative report from the camp.
She said the orientation course has been packaged to meet all the physical, intellectual and emotional needs of corps members, urging them to take maximum advantage of all the programmes in the camp towards making them better citizens.
Mrs.Sanda used the opportunity to thank the Nasarawa State government for all the support rendered to the NYSC in the state.
She howevered employed Engineer Sule to provide th scheme with a utility vehicle to facilitate supervision through out the nooks and crannies of the state, as well as look into the expansion and complete renovation of the camp built over ten years ago.
Dignitaries at the event include, the Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government (SSG), Aliyu Ahmed Tijjani, the Director General, NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, the Emir of Keffi, HRH Dr Shehu Chndo Yamusa, amongst others.
