Centre for Social Justice, Equity and Transparency (CESJET) has categorically denied reports that children are being illegally detained in the detention facilities in the North-East.
This is coming after New York based NGO Human Rights Watch (HRW) released an extensive report accusing the military of complacency in the fight against insurgency.
In a press conference held in Abuja, the executive secretary of CESJET, Ikpa Isaac condemned the report he described as “blackmail” and based on “unfounded allegations”
Three pertinent questions were raised at the conference which weren’t answered by the report failed to meet. With Boko Haram rarely in the news these days, CESJET wondered about the timing of the report.
It also questioned HRW failure to acknowledge the roles of indigenous groups to improve the conditions in the area. They however urged Nigerians and the world to disregard the report.
