The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Taraba state Council has stated commitment toward assisting its members in securing admission into various higher institutions of learning to upgrade their knowledge.
State Chairman of the union, Comrade Jovita Shafe disclosed this Saturday while addressing the Congress of the union held at the Press Center in Jalingo, the state capital.
According to him, the union will soon fish out those that have no Professional qualifications and stop them from practising, hence the need for such members to enrol in the Mass Communication or Journalism programs as the union is ready to support them in securing admission.
Comrade Shafe also advised those who have a degree in other fields of study and are practising Journalism to undergo a postgraduate program in Journalism or Mass Communication, adding that they can even enrol in the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) which has now taken off in Bauchi state.
The Chairman, however, appreciated members for their support and cooperation to the leadership of the union toward achieving its set goals.
Nuj Members drew from 6 Chapels across Media houses in the state including the Correspondents’ Chapel, while a Communique is expected to be issued at the end of the Congress.
